Field Seminar on Integrated Olive Pests Management in Iran
A seminar on Integrated Olive pest management in Iran was organized in collaboration with AGP and the Iranian Olive Project Department in Iran in Qazvin province.
About 38 participants have participated in the seminar from relevant provinces and institutions such as Olive Project Department, Plant Protection Organization, private sector as well as national experts and five farmers.
The seminar has covered bio-ecology of main olive pests and diseases (including their natural enemies) as well as their monitoring and identification in the field.
A field visit was carried out to several olive production areas, especially in Qazvin Province (Kalaji) and Gillan Province (Loshan, Ganjeh).
During the field visit different issues were discussed with trainees and farm technicians such as morphology, symptoms, damage of different pests and diseases and their management, as well as some of their natural enemies (predators and parasitoids).
The correlation between olive health and agricultural practices (irrigation, fertilization, pruning) was also observed and discussed.
