FAO Organizes Three Training of Trainers Workshops on "Building National Capacities in Agricultural Information Network in Support of Agricultural and Rural Development?
The Regional Office for the Near East of the Food & Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO/RNE) in collaboration with Jordan Agricultural Information Centre (JAIC) that was established in collaboration with FAO in the framework of FAO Technical cooperation Programme and was officially inaugurated by the Minister of Agriculture in April 2010, will organize three training for trainers workshops on "Building National Capacities in Agricultural Information Network in Support of Agricultural and Rural Development " for a period of 13 days from Monday 25 April till Thursday 6 May 2010, at JAIC and NCARE, Amman, Jordan.
The three training for trainers’ workshops will be attended by thirty five information trainers from Jordan Agricultural Information Centre (JAIC) of the Ministry of Agriculture, National Centre for Agricultural Research and Extension (NCARE) and other collaborative partners and stakeholder organizations
The main objectives of the workshops are to build the capacities of the trainers who represent the stakeholder organizations information focal units of Jordan National Agricultural Information System (NAIS) Project and will provide the same training for more than 100 persons from NAIS stakeholders in order to enable stakeholder organizations to contribute content to the system, as follows:
- Develop skills in the application of information management systems and tools, featuring the NAIS Network Operation, Management, and in-depth NAIS modules design and implementation to facilitate information generation, management, dissemination and exchange.
- Raise awareness for improving linkages and sharing information and knowledge between researchers and other stakeholders using NAIS network; and
- Raise awareness of strategic aspects of information and knowledge in the context of development of NAIS Network of Jordan and the global Coherence in Information for Agricultural Research for Development Initiative (CIARD);
It is worth to note that FAO is providing significant contribution in building information infrastructure and capacity building through the Technical Cooperation Programme of the Development of National Agricultural Information System (NAIS) Project of Jordan.
