Knowledge sharing, regional policy making, strategic planning and technical guidance are key elements to the sustainability of the development, conservation, management and utilization of fisheries in the Near East region.

As a regional fishery body, the FAO Regional Commission for Fisheries is organizing the seventh meeting of its Working Group on Fisheries Management (WGFM) in Kuwait.

During the meeting, that will take place from 5 to 7 November 2013, member countries will be called to discuss the steps and progress towards a regional fisheries management framework and other key topics relevant to the regional coordination in the sector.

Special focus will be made on the design and implementation of the fishery socio-economic regional work plan and the preparation of the regional joint Kingfish Stock Assessment workshop.
