The Joint International Symposium on management of Tuta absoluta (tomato borer, Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) was organized jointly by EPPO/IOBC/FAO/NEPPO and in collaboration with the IRAC and IBMA during 16 – 18 November, 2011 in Aghadir, Morocco. 

There were more than 240 participants from 40 countries from different regions (Near East, Europe, Americas and southeast Asia)agrochemical companies and international organizations. The Symposium has served as a forum for the participants to exchange their knowledge, technology, research and experience through a series of lectures and posters presented during the two days meetings, which was followed by a very interesting and useful technical field visit in the last day. During the symposium a presentation on Efforts of the FAO on the management of the tomato borer T. absoluta in the Near East region prepared jointly by the Regional Crop Protection officer for Near East and Mr. Khaled Alrouechdi, IPM officer, AGPM was presented.
