Consultative Workshop on Establishment of Save Food Regional Network of Near East and North Africa
SAVE-FOOD Regional Communication Network of Near East and North Africa is a web-based integrated, multilingual regional information and communication system.
It would play an enabling role in promoting collaboration between countries and institutions in the field of Save Food (Food Losses and Waste Reduction) based on successful experiences.
It is the SAVE-FOOD knowledge sharing and collaboration platform in the field of Food Losses and Waste resources (Save Food) for food security improvement which is initiated, developed and facilitated by FAO, endorsed in the regional priorities framework in 2012 by member countries participated in SAVE-FOOD meeting held in Tunisia on 7 November 2013, AARINENA, GFAR ICARDA, AOAD, LAS, and other regional and international organizations, for improving regional and national SAVE-FOOD information infrastructure and building common standards and platform for SAVE-FOOD knowledge exchange and information management in the Near East and North Africa region.

Objectives of the Network
- Connect a unique group of public, private and civil society organizations involved at all stages of food production, processing, marketing and consumption.
- Create awareness at various policymaking and technical levels within member countries on the importance of the development of Save Food through integrated approach.
- Present opportunities to collaborate, promote good practices on food loss and waste reduction and help direct the future of SAVE FOOD (Food Losses and Waste Reduction) in Near East Region.
- Enhance cooperation for the analysis and solution of common problems through joint research and development projects.
- Allow joint programs to be developed for the exchange of experiences and expertise and organization of training courses, workshops and conferences for the effective use and sharing of transferable technical information and skills.
- Facilitate exchange of information through the development of a regional information system/network to collect, disseminate, facilitate access to information on advances in Save Food research, innovations and technology.
- Contribute to the formulation of national networks in each country to strengthen collaboration among national institutions, non-governmental organizations, private sector and universities.
