Gender Training Workshop
The Subregional Office for North Africa in Tunis organized in collaboration with the Center of Arab Women for Training and Research (CAWTAR) a training workshop June 11 to 13, 2013 and that, in the context of strengthening building teams of FAO and its partners for a Gender-responsive programming.
The organization of this workshop was the result of recommendations emerged at the end of the audit conducted by FAO CAWTAR, and the objective is assigned to provide FAO staff and partners with the knowledge and basic skills to assess, analyze and integrate the gender dimension into the planning process, strategies and program interventions in the areas of intervention of the FAO in the areas of forestry, fisheries, agriculture, water and environment .
The countries participating in this workshop are Morocco, Mauritania, Algeria and Tunisia.
Morocco was represented by Michael Hage FAO Representative in Morocco, Ms. Malika Elhata assistant program, Khadija Eddoublali and Nadia Legdali the Ministry of Agriculture and Maritime Fishing and Mr Sidi Lotfi Elalami the High Commissioner for water Forests and the Fight against Desertification.
The workshop was opened by Mr. Benoit Horemans, Representative sub-regional Coordinator of FAO in Tunis. He welcomed the participants stressed the importance of the workshop:

- The capacity of country teams in gender;
- The exchange of information between the countries of the sub region's gender approach;
- The development of gender action Plan.
The workshop was conducted by CAWTAR and covered the following topics: • International, regional and national context • The framework, tools and methodology • Strategic Planning and Integration Genre • Gender and the management of human resources • The institutionalization of gender: action plan, monitoring and evaluation
The training is based on the work of the thematic group and country group.
Overall, this training enabled participants to learn from experiences in this direction in the four countries, namely Morocco, Algeria, Mauritania and Tunisia through mutual and informative exchange, awareness of vulnerabilities and also raise awareness about the use of the concepts of the approach by providing methodology and tools suitable for a detailed analysis of gender in programs.
Each country team is expected to:
1. finalize the action plan for the integration of gender approach
2. prioritize actions to be implemented to build capacity in each country.
