Seventh meeting of the RECOFI Working Group on Aquaculture (WGA)

26/04/2016-28/04/2016

Aquaculture cooperation in the Gulf strengthen during the Seventh Meeting of the RECOFI Working Group on Aquaculture in Qatar

The Regional Commission for Fisheries (RECOFI) will be holding its Working Group on Aquaculture (WGA) Seventh meeting in Doha, Qatar, from 26th to 28th April 2016.

With the uncertain potential for increasing marine and inland capture fisheries production, the importance of aquaculture for fish supply in the region is increasing significantly. WGA has served as a forum for Member Countries to exchange experiences and knowledge on topics related to aquaculture.

The 7th WGA will focus on a number of important matters, including the implementation of the RECOFI recommendation on minimum data reporting on aquaculture; the regional cooperation programme on aquatic biosecurity; the principles, perspectives and opportunities of the marine spatial planning for the Gulf (RECOFI) area; the follow-up and extension of the Regional Aquaculture Information System (RAIS); among others.
