The workshop is organised in cooperation between The Commission for Controlling the Desert Locust in the Western Region (CLCPRO) and the Commission for Controlling the Desert Locust in the Central Region (CRC)

Reference is made to the current pesticides stock system in many countries in the central region and western region and the important to record and monitor their inventories of pesticides and their usage, and to assist them in managing the most efficient usage, and to help reduce the creation of obsolete pesticides and enable countries to plan strategies for responding more effectively to Desert Locust outbreak.

 The aim of the workshop is:

-           to allow countries to manage their stocks of pesticides more effectively,

-           to record inventories of obsolete and usable pesticides and other materials contaminated with pesticides,

-           to assess the comparative risks of pesticide stores and developing a safeguarding strategy,

-           to maintain a register of authorised pesticides,

-           to manage the movement, use and disposal of pesticides and pesticide containers.
