Farmers in Syria benefit from rainfalls after installing rain harvest systems

FAO, with the support of UK for International Development, have strengthened the local resilience to climate change and recurrent drought by increasing water availability through the installation of above-ground rooftop rainwater harvesting systems. By capturing and utilizing rainfall more efficiently, the initiative enables sustainable small-scale household agriculture, improves food self-sufficiency, and supports income generation through agriculture/livestock-based livelihood activities, particularly in climate-vulnerable and water-stressed communities.
