Green Jobs: Empowering Palestinian Youth

Unemployment and poverty rates among Palestinian youth remain alarmingly high, particularly among young women. With limited job opportunities and a persistent mismatch between education outcomes and labor market needs, many young people struggle to secure decent work, weakening purchasing power and food access across communities. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and with the financial support of Denmark, is addressing this challenge by promoting sustainable “green” jobs in the agrifood sector. Through strengthening youth technical and entrepreneurial skills, supporting green enterprises, and engaging universities, vocational centers, the private sector and civil society, the project empowers young women and men across the West Bank and Gaza Strip to access decent employment, build resilience and contribute to a more sustainable agrifood system. #GreenJobs #YouthEmpowerment #AgriFood
