PM directs to form an investigative committee regarding the rumors of buffalo and cows being infected with foot-and-mouth disease

Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani directed the formation of an investigative committee regarding the rumors of buffalo and cows being infected with foot-and-mouth disease, with the membership of a number of specialists in the field of veterinary and livestock.
The media office of Al-Sudani stated in a statement, "The committee began its work in following up on cases of animal deaths, determining their causes through field visits, and withdrawing pathological samples of foot-and-mouth disease with the help of local and international expertise, and in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), for the purpose of examining samples in global reference laboratories. The office also directed the Ministry of Agriculture to inventory and limit the damages and follow up on their rates of occurrence and appearance.
The statement confirmed that "the committee reassures citizens that this disease that affects livestock is not transmitted to humans through the consumption of animal products such as meat, milk and its derivatives, and does not pose a risk to the health of the consumer.
