On Thursday, Brazlian Foreign Minister Antonio Patriota will conclude an official two-day stay in Nouakchott, the capital of Mauritania, where he was welcomed on Wednesday by President Mohammed Ould Abdelaziz, according to a press release from the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Today's agenda includes a working meeting between Patriota and his Mauritanian peer, Hamadi Ould Hamadi, and other authorities from that country. The objective is to examine possibilities for investment and the development of trade, as well as technical, humanitarian and military cooperation.

According to the Itamaraty Palace, the headquarters of the Brazilian Foreign Ministry, this first visit by a Brazilian foreign minister to Mauritania will strengthen the bilateral rapprochement that began in 2007, when both nations decided to open their embassies in their respective capitals.
