Prime Minister and FAO Celebrate the World Food Day: "Sustainable Food Systems for Food Security and Nutrition" in Beirut

This year the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations chose "Sustainable Food Systems for Food Security and Nutrition" as a theme for the World Food Day. Malnutrition today imposes high costs on society, and comes in many different forms. The cost of the malnutrition to the global economy ? as a result of lost productivity and direct health care costs ? could account for as much as 5 percent of global income. That is equivalent to US$3.5 trillion per year or US$500 per person.
