Fawzi Karajeh

3 August 2017- It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Fawzi Karajeh, Senior Water Resources Officer in the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations Regional Near East (RNE) office. He played an instrumental role in the organization and was a key icon in many initiatives.

Karajeh offered more than 25 years of experience and expertise in the water resource field. He spent a total of 13 years in the California Department of Water Resources and a total of eight years in ICARDA before joining FAO in 2014. Karajeh was a pioneer of the Water Scarcity Initiative (WSI) and it would not be where it is today without him.

Beyond his professional contribution, Karajeh had a unique personality and will always be remembered for his willingness to help, his sense of friendship, and his smiling face.
