As a part of a project aiming at supporting capacity development for fishery stock assessment in GCC countries and Yemen, the Food and Agriculture Organization will organize a training course on methodologies for fish stock assessment during the period from 15 - 26 September 2013 in Muscat, Oman.

The course comes as the third phase of a training series that has covered:

  • Enhancement and standardization of data collection (phase two)

The course will focus on the application of the Ecological Risk Assessment (ERA) and stock assessment to fisheries management planning.

During the fourth session of the training program, planned to take place next December 2013, participants will present the results of the ecological risk assessment and stock assessment analyses to formulate technical advice for regional and national fisheries management.
