FAO discusses cooperation with GCC

Mehdi Drissi, FAO Representative in the United Arab Emirates and Sub-regional coordinator for the GCC states and Yemen, met Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani at the GCC General-Secretariat premises in Riyadh.

“We had the pleasure to meet Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani to review ways and mechanisms to strengthen the partnership between the two sides at all levels, with an emphasis on FAO strategic Initiatives, the management of natural resources and the way to achieve food security” Mehdi Drissi, Said.

Mehdi also introduced in the meeting the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals that were launched back in September.

“FAO, which has provided technical support to member countries in the NENA Region will continue to work n them, while implementing and monitoring eight goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.” Mehdi added.

Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani stressed in the meeting on the importance of strengthening cooperation to benefit from FAO advocacy programmes and services, so as to achieve the UN sustainable development goals.
