Rome/ Cairo 23 June 2016 - FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva has appointed Mr. Nabil Gangi as Deputy Regional Representative for the Near East and North Africa region, and Mr. Pasquale Steduto as Regional Strategic Programme Coordinator.

The new appointees will be assisting Mr. Abdessalam Ould Ahmed, the Assistant Director General and Regional Representative for the Near East and North Africa in ensuring efficient and effective management of the FAO work in the region, particularly focusing on the implementation of the five Strategic Programs of FAO: Help eliminate hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition; Make agriculture, forestry and fisheries more productive and sustainable; Reduce rural poverty; Enable inclusive and efficient agricultural and food systems; Increase the resilience of livelihoods to threats and crises
