FAO-Hungary scholarship program open to more countries in the region

The Regional Office of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) announced that applications for FAO-Hungary scholarships are open, and students from more countries in the region are eligible to apply for agriculture-related studies at Szent Istvan University.
Now in its 10th year, the FAO-Hungary Master’s degree programme offers courses taught in English language at the country’s renowned Szent Istvan University. Courses will cover rural development and agribusiness, horticulture, and agricultural water management.
FAO Deputy Regional Representative Nabil Gangi urged students from the region to apply before February 28th to benefit from the available scholarships, noting that three students, namely from Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon joined their colleagues for the 2016-17 intake.
He thanked the Hungarian ministry of Agriculture for adding Palestine to the list of eligible countries. Applications currently are being accepted from nationals, and also residents, of the following countries and territories in the Near East and North Africa: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Sudan and Yemen.
These scholarships will cover the following Master of Science degree courses, offered in English for the 2017-2018 Academic Year: Rural development and agribusiness; Horticulture; Agricultural water management.
Gangi noted that FAO will inform the concerned ministries of agriculture in the eligible countries, as well as public and private universities in order to ensure the highest participation of eligible students and alumni.
Students from eligible countries, who are fluent in English and didn’t exceed 30 years of age, are free to apply by sending the duly filled application with the necessary supporting documents to [email protected] before the end of February.
The scholarship will cover the application and tuition fees throughout the study period, basic books and notes, dormitory accommodation, subsistence costs and healthcare.
The courses will be attended in the following Hungarian universities:
- Szent Istvan University, Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences
- Szent István University, Faculty of Horticultural Science
- Szent István University, Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences
Mr. Gangi called upon all eligible candidates to download the Application Form and Course Description, reminding that incomplete applications will be immediately discarded.
