FAO Director-General attends Qatar's 5th International Agricultural Exhibition
Event highlights importance of technologies and innovation for food production
22 March 2017, Rome/Doha - FAO Director-General Jose Graziano da Silva today attended the inauguration of Qatar’s 5th International Agricultural Exhibition (AgriteQ 2017) in Doha, where he was accompanied by the country’s Minister for Municipalities and the Environment, Mohammad bin Abdullah Alrumehi.
Following his visit, FAO Director-General said he was impressed by the implementation of modern technologies and innovative approaches in agricultural projects in Qatar.
“FAO has an important role to play in collaboration with Qatar and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to face the rising challenges of water scarcity and climate change to ensure a food secure future,” Graziano da Silva added.
He also noted the numerous international exhibitors represented at the event, which gathers over 100 local and global leading agriculture companies.
