Juillet 2021 - L'Organisation des Nations Unies pour l'alimentation et l'agriculture (FAO) en  Algérie a organisé une formation en faveur de  30 cadres relevant des ministères des Ressources en Eau et de l’Agriculture et du Développement rural sur les techniques de production de la tomate sous serre dans l’objectif d’améliorer les connaissances en matière des bonnes pratiques agricoles.

Cette formation est la deuxième parmi une série de formations qui sont destinée aux facilitateurs afin de leur permettre d’assurer la facilitation des prochains Champs Ecoles Paysans (CEP) qui seront mise en place afin de résoudre certains problèmes liés à la gestion de l’eau et contribuer à inculquer une culture de rationalisation de la ressource chez les agriculteurs.

La formation qui s’est déroulée sur deux jours (du 06 au 07 Juillet 2021) a été une occasion d’échanges et de partages de connaissances entre les différents participants en abordant tous les aspects liés à la production de la tomate sous serre depuis la pépinière jusqu’à la commercialisation. La présence des cadres de l’Institut Techniques des Cultures Maraichères et industrielles (ITCMI) a contribué pleinement a instaurer un débat très fructueux basé sur l’expérience, les acquis et la pratique.

Cette formation a été mise en œuvre dans le cadre du projet régional « Mise en œuvre de l'Agenda 2030 pour l'efficacité, productivité et la durabilité de l'eau dans les pays NENA » qui s’inscrit dans le cadre de l'Initiative régionale sur la rareté de l'eau. Ce projet est financé par l'Agence suédoise de coopération internationale au développement.

Continuation of the Farmer Field School training program for facilitators in Algeria

July 2021 - The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Algeria organized the second Farmer Field School (FFS) training for 30 facilitators from the Ministries of Water Resources and Agriculture and Rural Development, with the objective of improving the facilitators knowledge on good agricultural practices for greenhouse tomato production to enhance water and crop productivity and efficiency.

This training is the second among a series of trainings intended for facilitators to enable them to ensure the facilitation of the next FFS, which will be implemented in 2021, in order to solve certain problems related to water management, and help instill a culture of resource rationalization among farmers.

The training which took place over two days, was an opportunity for exchanges and knowledge sharing between the various participants through addressing different aspects related to greenhouse tomato production starting at the nursery stage of the value chain until the marketing stage of the product. The presence of executives from the Technical Institute for Vegetable and Industrial Cultures fully contributed to establishing a very fruitful debate based on experience, knowledge and practice.

This activity is implemented within the framework of FAO’s regional project “Implementing the 2030 Agenda for water efficiency/ productivity and water sustainability in the NENA countries” under the Water Scarcity Initiative.
