Focus and theme of the World Food Day this year is “Sustainable Food Systems for Food Security and Nutrition”. The theme has been chosen to highlight the importance of addressing malnutrition by integrated models called food systems. Food systems, when well operated, improve the accessibility and availability of food, but also make sure that the food produced is healthy, fresh and nutritious, thus contributing achieving food security.

During the celebration, a demonstration unit on vegetable and fish production will show how a food system can be operated to help small scale farmers or rural families to produce enough and healthy food on a regular basis.

The World Food Day celebration this year will be attended by representatives from the MALR, FAO, and other UN agencies in addition to Civil Society Organizations and other partners.
