Lubna Al Qasimi discusses UAE cooperation with FAO

ABU DHABI, 11th November, 2014 (WAM) - Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of International Cooperation and Development, MICAD, and Head of the UAE Committee for the Coordination of Humanitarian Foreign Aid, has stressed the UAE's keenness to boost its partnerships with all international organisations related to development and humanitarian issues.

During her meeting with Abdessalam Ould Ahmed, UN Food and Agriculture Organisation Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for the North Africa and the Near East, Sheikha Lubna highlighted the UAE's efforts in achieving the Millennium Development Goals related to hunger and poverty.

The meeting reviewed ways and mechanisms to strengthen the partnership channels between the two sides at all levels, and address the issues of hunger, poverty and desertification in developing countries and poor communities.

The FAO Assistant Director-General expressed the organisation's deep appreciation of UAE efforts in the fight against poverty and hunger in the world and its effective cooperation and generous support to achieve the desired response to humanitarian crises, commending the vision of the UAE's wise leadership in promoting agriculture, combating desertification and achieving steady progress in various areas throughout the United Arab Emirates.
