FAO hosts IFAD in Egypt

The two agencies sign an agreement to the provision of office space and administrative and logistical support.

26 January 2015 , Cairo –The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) have today further strengthened their collaboration and partnership by signing an agreement aimed at hosting the country office of IFAD within the premises of the FAO Regional Office for the near East and North Africa.

The agreement was signed by the FAO’s Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for the Near East and North Africa, Mr. Abdessalam Ould Ahmed and the IFAD’s Country Programme Manager, Mr. Hanafi Abdelhaq on behalf of Ms. Khalida Bouzar, IFAD’s Director for the Near East, North Africa, Europe and Central Asia Division at FAO Regional Office.

“The agreement marks a step forward in the historical collaboration of the two Rome-based agencies. The two agencies are deeply committed to working together in support of a common goal, the one of eradicating hunger and reducing rural poverty in the Near East and North Africa.” Said Abdessalam Ould Ahmed.
