Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations appoints Hussein Gadain as a new Representative in Egypt
Cairo, June 15--The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations has appointed Mr. Hussein Gadain as FAO Representative in the Arab Republic of Egypt, succeeding Mr. Pasquale Steduto.
Commenting on his new role, Mr. Gadain said:” Egypt has a pivotal role in the region, and enjoys a global attention. I will seek to enhance cooperation between FAO and Egypt in many areas, especially sustainable agriculture through use of renewable energy and technology , sustainable management of natural resources, and I will be keen to provide FAO technical expertise in many other areas.”
Mr Gadain started his career as a Civil Engineer at the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources in Sudan, he is a seasoned international expert in water resources engineering and management, with 25 years of work experience in East Africa. He has been working with FAO Somalia managing the Somalia Water and Land Information Management project (SWALIM) for more than ten years.
Mr. Gadain, a national of Sudan, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil and Hydraulic Engineering (First Class) from the Sudan University of Science and Technology, Khartoum, Sudan and a Master of Science degree and Ph.D. in Water Resources Engineering from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
