FAO-Hungary scholarship program open to students from Egypt

Cairo 23 Jan 2017: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) announced the applications for FAO-Hungary scholarships are open, and that students from Egypt are eligible to apply for agriculture-related studies at Szent Istvan University.

Now in its 10th year, the FAO-Hungary Master’s degree programme offers courses taught in English language at the country’s renowned Szent Istvan University. Courses will cover rural development and agribusiness, horticulture, and agricultural water management.

Hussein Gadain, representative of FAO in Egypt urges Egyptian students to apply before February 28th to benefit from the available scholarships.

“Egypt faces considerable challenges in water and agriculture management and its effects on production, agricultural crops and have implications on food security and hunger. Therefore, FAO Egypt considers this scholarship as a valuable opportunity for Egyptian Scholars to further treat in post graduate studies that add to the existing wealth of knowledge in the field of water management, agriculture and nutrition. We urge researchers and educational institutes to benefit from the scholarship availed by the Hungarian Government in partnership with FAO so as to support Egypt’s efforts in attaining the Sustainable Development Goals as well as self-sufficiency in food” Gadain  said.

Gadain noted that FAO will coordinate with the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation in Egypt, as well as public and private universities in order to ensure the highest participation of eligible students and alumni.

Students from Egypt, who are fluent in English and didn’t exceed 30 years of age, are free to apply by sending the duly filled application with the necessary supporting documents to [email protected] before the end of February.

The scholarship will cover the application and tuition fees throughout the study period, basic books and notes, dormitory accommodation, subsistence costs and healthcare.

The courses will be attended in the following faculties of Szent Istvan University:

  • Szent Istvan University, Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences
  • Szent István University, Faculty of Horticultural Science
  • Szent István University, Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences

FAO calls upon all eligible candidates to visit the scholarship  page on FAO Regional website in order to get the course description and application form , reminding that incomplete applications will be immediately discarded.
