FAO is organizing a side event to highlight the role that innovative finance plays in transforming agrifood systems, particularly in promoting gender equality and empowering women. With the 2025 Financing for Development Conference (FfD4) on the horizon, the event will focus on how innovative financing solutions can help address the financial gaps in sustainable agrifood systems. Women’s involvement from food production to processing and distribution, is essential for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. 

At the event, a variety of voices will be featured including expert speakers, government representatives, and stakeholders sharing their experiences, insights, and recommendations. Participants will include delegations from members states, international organizations and civil society.  

The key outcomes expected from the event include: 

• Highlighting opportunities and challenges in scaling innovative financing for agrifood systems. 
• Promoting gender-responsive financing to ensure women and girls benefit from agrifood system transformation.
• Sharing case studies and best practices to inform policy and practical recommendations for FfD4 preparations.
