ECOSOC Youth Forum side event: 'Opportunities for Youth in Africa - Accelerating Job Creation and Entrepreneurship through Digitalization in the Agribusiness Sector'
Hybrid Event, 06/04/2021

This session, organized by UNIDO and FAO aims to raise awareness and catalyze greater investments for youth employment creation in the agribusiness sector by bringing attention to the pan-African OYA programme implemented by UNIDO and FAO in partnership with the African Union.
The side event will take place on 6 April from 2:00 to 3:15 pm.
The rationale of the session is to enhance the understanding of the challenges impeding job creation for young women and men in agriculture and agribusiness in the post COVID-19 crisis era as well as the importance of digitalization as an accelerator to addressing these challenges sustainably. Other objectives include:
- Recognition of the need for significant investments to be made to capitalize on the potential of youth in agribusiness.
- Better comprehension and ability to address the needs and expectations of the young people in business, as well as trends and stakes related to entrepreneurship and selfemployment.
- Best practices on how to address the presented challenges, specifically related to post COVID-19 crisis setting.
