On Friday 16 May at 12:00 PM EDT, FAO Director of Emergencies and Resilience, Rein Paulsen, will brief on the 2025 edition of the annual Global Report on Food Crises alongside World Food Programme (WFP) Chief Economist, Arif Husain and UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) Director of Nutrition and Child Development, Joan Matji.

The report, produced by the Food Security Information Network (FSIN), will be launched earlier on 16 May by the Global Network Against Food Crises (GNAFC), which includes FAO, WFP, the European Union and other partners.

The report and in-briefs are retrospective and will reveal the number of people experiencing acute food insecurity and malnutrition in countries beset by food crises in 2024. It will also provide regional- and country-level overviews, include an analysis of the drivers that contributed to food crises in 2024 and touch on forecasts for 2025.
