5 April 2018, Rome--- The three-day Symposium brought together more than 700 participants with representatives from 72 governments, around 350 civil society and other non-governmental groups, and 6 UN organizations to discuss key elements and actions to support scaling up agroecology. The symposium focused on identifying needs, challenges and opportunities to promote agroecology policies, practices and investments.

The Scaling-Up Initiative was launched during the last Plenary session and it aims to encourage more inclusive and holistic agroecology transition processes through tools, knowledge and policy processes for transformation of food and agricultural systems. A High Level Panel on the Future of Agroecology, with the participation of various Ministers, was also held today.
