World Food Day kicks off with opening ceremony, part 2

16 October 2013, Rome - The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations celebrates World Food Day today, the day on which the Organization was founded in 1945. Honored guests from around the world came to show their support at the World Food day ceremony this morning in Rome, as well as help raise awareness for the events and initiatives taking place globally. Hear their statements below. World Food Day is meant to focus our attention on the efforts taking place worldwide towards eradicating hunger. It is a day meant for raising awareness of the many hunger and nutrition issues that affect every person on the planet. It is a day that reminds us that we are united in our efforts.
