Food Price Index and quarterly Crop Prospects and Food Situation report released

9 July 2015, Rome--- According to new editions of FAO's monthly Food Price Index (FPI) and quarterly Crop Prospects and Food Situation report (CPFS), out today, world cereal production this year should amount to 2.527 million tonnes and the FPI declined 0.9 percent in June compared to May. At 165.1 points the index is now down 21 percent versus a year ago and at its lowest level since September 2009.

Mamoun Amrouk is an Economist with FAO’s Markets and Trade division. In the following interview he elaborates on the numbers and analysis in these latest reports. (Interview conducted by Sandra Ferrari)
