Alert over third year of failed rains, worsening hunger in East Africa

14 July 2017, Rome--- In a new report released by the UN’s Food and Agriculture, large parts of East Africa have seen serious deterioration of food security conditions. According to the food agency, prevailing dry weather conditions since October 2016 have greatly affected the rangelands and crops in these areas.

Alessandro Costantino, an economist with FAO, based in Rome, elaborates more on this latest assessment. (Interview conducted by Sandra Ferrari)
