21 June 2017, Juba--- Famine has eased in South Sudan after a significant scale up in the humanitarian response. This is according to new analysis released today by the South Sudanese government, the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization, UN Children’s Fund, the World Food Programme, and other humanitarian partners. However, the situation remains dire across the country as the number of people struggling to find enough food each day has grown to six million – up from 4.9 million in February. This is the highest level of food insecurity ever experienced in South Sudan.

Serge Tissot, FAO’s Representative in the country, on the phone in Juba, elaborates more on the situation. (Interview conducted by Sandra Ferrari)
