UN Economic and Social Council President secures CFS partnership

11 October, Rome - Strong reaffirmations of commitment were forged today on this last day for CFS week. According to the President of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), H.E. Nestor Osorio, linking ECOSOC with CFS is key in working towards achieving food security. The Committee reports annually to ECOSOC, which is one of the six main organs of the United Nations. In turn, ECOSOC fortifies the policy recommendations of CFS and strengthens the way forward in terms of institutional and political change such as, promoting sustainable development and working towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals.
