Interview with H.E. Peter Thomson, President of the United Nations General Assembly

The Global Action Programme (GAP) on Food Security and Nutrition in Small Island Developing State was launched today at FAO headquarters in Rome. The high-level event was prepared in response to Paragraph 61 of the S.A.M.O.A. Pathway that invited FAO to facilitate the development of an action programme to address food and nutrition challenges in SIDS.

H.E. Peter Thomson, President of the United Nations General Assembly, spoke with FAO Radio about his thoughts on the Global Action plan, the outcomes of the Oceans Conference in New York last month, the challenges going forward in fulfilling the goals of the 2030 agenda; as well as the close of his term as President.
