D. Minkoh / FAO
09 July 2014, Rome – In 2004, an FAO project to equip small fishing communities with the tools and know-how to dry fish on raised racks, was implemented along the shores of Lake Tanganyika in Burundi. Ten years later the project is seen to be a great success and the impact was seen across the continent.

Yvette Diei-Ouadi is an FAO Fishery Industry Officer in Rome. In the following interview she explains why this project was first implemented and what she saw when she visited the beneficiary communities 10 years later.
