New report touts agrocorridors as economic driver
11 March 2015, Rome--- According to a new report by the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization, the creation of economic “agrocorridors” have GREAT potential in terms of sustainable development. But what is an Economic “agrocorridors”? For starters: they involve improving on infrastructure to help draw in private capital and large-scale investment to projects that, in turn, will benefit smallholder farmers and boost food security in lower-income countries. These so-called economic corridors are hardly new – but their potential for sustainable development has been largely untapped.

Eva Gálvez Nogales is an Agribusiness Economist with FAO in Rome. In the following interview she elaborates on the potential of these projects and what FAO is doing to help development planners incorporate this model into their work.
