In October, across Canada, monuments will light up blue for World Food Day 2024 to spread awareness of the "Right to foods".
Wherever you are in Canada, you can see these magnificent monuments in a whole new way:
October 15
Calgary: On October 15, the Calgary Tower will shine in blue for World Food Day. The exterior LED light show, featuring 132 lights capable of producing over 16.5 million colors and effects, will be visible from dusk to midnight.
October 16
Niagara Falls: For a fourth consecutive year, Niagara Parks and the North American Plant Protection Organization (NAPPO) are raising awareness about World Food Day by lighting the iconic landmark of Niagara Falls in blue. The event will take place on 16 October at 10 pm Eastern Daylight Time.
Montreal: The iconic Olympic Stadium Tower will be illuminated in blue to celebrate World Food Day, highlighting the global importance of food security and sustainability.
Toronto: The CN Tower, one of Canada's best-known and most celebrated landmarks, will light Toronto's skyline blue for World Food Day for the fourth year in a row! The lighting, which will begin at sunset, will last 8 minutes every hour, followed by another light show every half hour.
Vancouver: In honour of World Food Day, Vancouver's iconic Sails of Light will shine in a brilliant blue hue. This year, the illumination event aims to raise awareness and promote support for "Right to Foods for a Better Life and a Better Future", focusing on the importance of a variety of nutritious, affordable, accessible, safe, and sustainable foods.
October 29
Edmonton: the High Level Bridge in Edmonton will light up for World Food Day with a stunning display of 60,000 LED bulbs, thanks to the Light the Bridge campaign. The bridge lights highlight the collaboration between FAO and the High Level Bridge, celebrating our joint efforts towards global food security.
