The FAO OCOP Secretariat and Markets and Trade Division will jointly host an exhibition at the FAO Headquarters from 9 to 13 September 2024, to showcase Special Agricultural Products (SAPs), highlighting their global trade potential and impact on livelihoods for millions. Organized on the sidelines of the 76th Session of the Committee on Commodity Problems (CCP), the exhibition will allow participants, FAO staff, and visitors a glimpse of the cultural heritage behind the SAPs promoted under the OCOP initiative, their diversity, as well as their value chains worldwide. The exhibition will highlight the CCP's role in promoting food security and serve as a platform to share innovative solutions, knowledge, and best practices, and to foster synergies and collaborations.
SAPs are agricultural products with unique qualities and special characteristics associated with geographical locations, farming practices, and cultural heritages. The FAO OCOP initiative currently supports 85 countries in promoting 54 SAPs worldwide, covering the whole value chain, including sustainable production, storage, processing, and marketing.
