One Health approaches on the boundary between research and policies

Hybrid Event, 26/11/2024 - 27/11/2024

Tuesday, 26 November | 14:00–17:45 CET
Wednesday, 27 November | 9:00–13:00 CET

FAO and the Strategic Alliance of Catholic Research Universities (SACRU) are hosting this workshop to foster collaboration among researchers, policymakers, and key stakeholders to address global challenges and explore opportunities for connecting research with policymaking under the One Health framework.

Scientific evidence increasingly highlights the links between environmental factors, food systems, and health risks such as antimicrobial resistance and food safety challenges. This workshop seeks to bridge these gaps by facilitating dialogue and promoting shared solutions across sectors.

Key focus areas:

  • Environmental health: understanding the impacts of agrochemicals, pollutants, and regulatory differences on human health, agrifood systems, and the environment.
  • Food safety: identifying and addressing emerging and newly identified food risks (NIER) through effective prevention and mitigation strategies.
  • Antimicrobial resistance (AMR): examining the role of environments as reservoirs and foods as vectors of AMR bacteria and genes.
