A meeting will be organized by FAO (Programme Against African Trypanosomosis, PAAT). Over twenty (20) participants are expected to attend the meeting, including all key PAAT stakeholders and partners, i.e. the World Health Organization (WHO), International Atomic Energy Agency, the African Union, the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), selected AAT affected countries (Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Kenya, Ethiopia, Zambia and Zimbabwe), and research institutions (IRD, CIRAD, ITM, ICIPE, CIRDES, GALVmed, University of Glasgow, Free University of Brussels, and ILRI).

The ultimate goal is the usefulness and the understanding of the PCP for AAT, in order to pave the way to its refinement and implementation. It is to be hoped that the PCP be recognized, especially by AAT-endemic countries, as a powerful tool to rationalize the planning and monitoring of field interventions against AAT.
