FAO's Florence Rolle Strengthens Collaboration in Quetta

Florence Rolle, FAO Representative in Pakistan, visited Quetta to enhance collaboration with the Balochistan government, attend the launch of the EU-funded Post-Floods Resilient Recovery and Strengthening of the Livestock Sector project, and review progress under the Revival of Balochistan Water Resources Programme (RBWRP).
Accompanied by FAO officials, she met with key provincial secretaries to discuss sustainable agriculture, livestock, irrigation, and forestry initiatives. She also laid the foundation for the rehabilitation of Chashma Achozai Karez, benefiting 3,000 residents and 500 acres of farmland, and reviewed the restoration of earthen bunds to improve grazing areas.
In Hanna Urak, she inaugurated the first of 99 climate-adaptive animal shelters, integrating water harvesting and improved hygiene for sustainable livestock management. She also visited a Farmer Field School in Killi Sufi Khuchlak Village, where farmers are learning innovative onion farming techniques.
Her visit highlighted FAO’s commitment to sustainable agriculture, enhanced water productivity, and equitable development in Balochistan.
