FAO, CESVI & AICS Launch €4M Climate Resilience Project in Sindh

Islamabad, Pakistan – FAO and CESVI, with funding from the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), have launched a €4 million project to boost climate resilience in Sindh. The RAFAA (Resilience & Adaptation by Fostering Anticipatory Action) initiative will support rural communities vulnerable to climate shocks like floods, droughts, and heatwaves.
Spanning 36 months, RAFAA focuses on early warning systems, water monitoring, climate-resilient livelihoods, and community-based disaster preparedness. The project also explores climate risk insurance and the development of anticipatory action protocols at provincial and district levels.
Launched at a ceremony hosted by the Italian Ambassador to Pakistan, the project reflects shared priorities between FAO and CESVI to empower marginalized groups, especially women, and promote locally driven solutions. It aligns with Pakistan’s National Adaptation Plan and Sindh’s Climate Change Policy, and will be implemented in partnership with key provincial institutions and ministries.
