حّبت منظمة الأغذية والزراعة للأمم المتحدة (المنظمة) اليوم بموافقة مرفق البيئة العالمية على أربعة من المشاريع التي تقودها المنظمة في ثمانية بلدان، بقيمة إجمالية تزيد قيمتها عن 13.6 ملايين دولار أمريكي. وقد اتُخذ هذا القرار خلال الاجتماع الحادي والستين المنعقد بشكل افتراضي لمجلس مرفق البيئة العالمية، وهو الجهاز الرئاسي الرئيسي للمرفق.

The FAO Liaison Office in Brussels organized a briefing on the Global Network Against Food Crises for a number of Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) and the European Alliance against Hunger and Malnutrition. Small Island Developing States (SIDS) include some of the world’s most remote countries that share a similar set of challenges, including susceptibility to natural disasters, limited resources and dependence on international trade, in addition to a common aspiration for sustainable development, improved living standards and the remediation of gender inequalities. Women represent 52 percent of the agricultural labour force in SIDS and are essential agents of change to ensure a shift to more efficient and climate-resilient food systems.

حظيت الجهود الرامية إلى مساعدة المجتمعات الريفية الضعيفة في الصومال على تحقيق الأمن الغذائي وبناء القدرة على الصمود أمام تغير المناخ على دعم إضافي بفضل الشراكة الجديدة بين منظمة الأغذية والزراعة للأمم المتحدة (المنظمة) وصندوق قطر للتنمية، وهو المؤسسة العامة التابعة لدولة قطر المعنية بالتنمية.

سوف تعمل الشراكة بشأن بيانات الغابات، التي تشترك في قيادتها منظمة الأغذية والزراعة مع معهد الموارد العالمية، على تحسين الوصول إلى البيانات الجغرافية المكانية لأجل المساعدة في الحد من إزالة الغابات وفي إصلاح الأراضي المتدهورة

Against a backdrop of conflicts and crises around the world, FAO and EU managers met to cement their alliance on humanitarian issues. Taking part in the discussions were the Director of the FAO Office for Emergencies and Resilience Rein Paulsen, the Director of FAO’s Liaison Office in Brussels Raschad Al-Khafaji, and, both EU Directors in charge of European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO), Andrea Koulaimah and Andreas Papaconstantinou.

Radio programs give rural communities an opportunity for their voices to be heard. “I know that I am privileged to listen and follow different programmes aired through MVIWATA FM,” says Odilia Jiovin, a farmer from Kilosa District in the Morogoro region of United Republic of Tanzania, which is known for the production and marketing of sunflower, coconut, sugarcane and sisal. “I always take the initiative to share the information with my fellow farmers in our community and apply the knowledge shared through the radio on my farm, where other farmers come and learn too,” she says.

لمحاربة انتشار الجوع المدقع في اليمن، رحبت منظمة الأغذية والزراعة للأمم المتحدة (المنظمة) وبرنامج الأمم المتحدة الإنمائي وبرنامج الأغذية العالمي بالدعم والمنحة المالية المقدمة من البنك الدولي في مشروع مشترك تبلغ تكلفته 127 مليون دولار أمريكي، من شانه أن يوفر فرصاً لبناء أمن غذائي مستدام للأسر الريفية في اليمن.

The Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), QU Dongyu, joined by the Italian Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi di Maio, and the Italian Minister for Sustainable Infrastructures and Mobility, Enrico Giovannini, inaugurated today the revamped main entrance of FAO Headquarters in Rome, which has been refurbished and modernized along with some other areas of the building, as part of the periodic, regular maintenance of the historic compound.
