L’Organisation des Nations Unies pour l’alimentation et l’agriculture (FAO) et le Fonds du Qatar pour le développement (Qatar Fund for Development – QFFD), l’organisme public qatari chargé de cette question, unissent leurs forces dans le cadre d’un nouveau partenariat et donnent ainsi un coup d’accélérateur aux efforts menés pour aider les communautés rurales vulnérables de la Somalie à parvenir à la sécurité alimentaire et à mieux s’adapter aux effets du changement climatique.

Le Centre du Roi Salman pour les secours et l'action humanitaires (KSrelief) a annoncé aujourd’hui la conclusion d’un accord ambitieux de coopération stratégique sur cinq ans avec l’Organisation des Nations Unies pour l'alimentation et l'agriculture (FAO). En application de cet accord, les partenaires s’engagent à intensifier leur action commune en vue de répondre aux besoins humanitaires, de s’attaquer aux facteurs de l’insécurité alimentaire aiguë et d’aider les populations agricoles vulnérables à accroître leur résilience face aux chocs qui affaiblissent leur potentiel de production.

Against a backdrop of conflicts and crises around the world, FAO and EU managers met to cement their alliance on humanitarian issues. Taking part in the discussions were the Director of the FAO Office for Emergencies and Resilience Rein Paulsen, the Director of FAO’s Liaison Office in Brussels Raschad Al-Khafaji, and, both EU Directors in charge of European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO), Andrea Koulaimah and Andreas Papaconstantinou.

Radio programs give rural communities an opportunity for their voices to be heard.
“I know that I am privileged to listen and follow different programmes aired through MVIWATA FM,” says Odilia Jiovin, a farmer from Kilosa District in the Morogoro region of United Republic of Tanzania, which is known for the production and marketing of sunflower, coconut, sugarcane and sisal. “I always take the initiative to share the information with my fellow farmers in our community and apply the knowledge shared through the radio on my farm, where other farmers come and learn too,” she says.

’Organisation des Nations Unies pour l’alimentation et l’agriculture (FAO), le Programme des Nations Unies pour le développement (PNUD) et le Programme alimentaire mondial (PAM) des Nations Unies ont accueilli favorablement la décision de la Banque mondiale d’octroyer un montant de 127 millions de dollars américains pour financer un projet interinstitutionnel visant à lutter contre la propagation de la faim extrême au Yémen. Le projet permettra aux familles rurales de renforcer durablement leur sécurité alimentaire.

The Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), QU Dongyu, joined by the Italian Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi di Maio, and the Italian Minister for Sustainable Infrastructures and Mobility, Enrico Giovannini, inaugurated today the revamped main entrance of FAO Headquarters in Rome, which has been refurbished and modernized along with some other areas of the building, as part of the periodic, regular maintenance of the historic compound.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Republic of Korea, through its Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS), today signed a new Framework Arrangement which establishes overarching terms and conditions that will govern the cooperation through voluntary contributions and facilitate future negotiations between MFDS and FAO.

The FAO Liaison Office in Brussels congratulated Deputy Minister-President of the Government of Flanders and Flemish Minister of Economy, Innovation, Work, Social Economy and Agriculture Hilde Crevits for her nomination as National Convenor for the United Nations Food System Summit.
