On February 15, FAO and the Adviser to the Prime Minister on Climate Change (Pakistan) Malik Amin Aslam signed a USD 47 million project to help the most vulnerable farmers in the Indus River Basin increase their resilience to climate change. The agreement follows the approval of the Board of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) of a grant of nearly USD 35 million. The 6th High-Level Strategic Dialogue between FAO and France was held from the 5 to 6 of February at FAO Headquarters. Maria Helena Semedo, Assistant Director-General for Climate and Natural Resources, welcomed a French delegation led by Philippe Lacoste, Director of Sustainable Development at the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs. n December 10 2019, Norway through the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad) officially signed an agreement to become a contributing member of FAO’s Flexible Multi-Partner Mechanism (FMM). The agreement, which was signed by FAO Assistant Director-General Roberto Ridolfi and Norad Director Mette Møglestue, commits to support of NOK 90 million (approximately USD 10 million) for FMM programs and sub-programmes over the next three years. It emphasizes Norway’s support for strengthening FMM’s programmatic focus on resilient and sustainable food systems, and climate change and agriculture.

On Friday, 29 November 2019, the Flexible Multi-Partner Mechanism (FMM) held its second Resource Partner Consultation meeting of the year at FAO Headquarters in Rome. The consultation opened with Director-General Qu Dongyu giving the opening remarks, and stressing the importance of robust flexible funding mechanisms like FMM in enabling innovation, speed and cross-sectoral cooperation in pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). “We are learning together, contributing together and working together,” he said.
