05/11/2024 Windhoek, Namibia – The Government of Namibia, in partnership with the People's Republic of China and facilitated by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), has launched the second phase of the South-South Cooperation (SSC) project named “South-South cooperation (SSC) between the People`s Republic of China and the Republic of Namibia on Agriculture and Fishery Production”. This initiative bolsters Namibia's agriculture, fisheries, and rural livelihoods by delivering essential knowledge, resources, and innovation to local communities.

05/11/2024 Windhoek, Namibia —During his recent visit to Namibia, Mr. Anping Ye, FAO Director of the South-South and Triangular Cooperation Division (PST), conducted strategic discussions with key stakeholders in a significant move to advance the South-South Cooperation (SSC) initiative. These engagements underscored FAO's role within the United Nations system in Namibia and its commitment to sustainable development through SSC. Mr. Ye met with the Ambassador of China to Namibia, H.E. Zhao Weiping, and the UN Resident Coordinator, Ms. Hopolang Phororo, emphasizing collaborative efforts that align with Namibia's national goals.

Bangkok/ Huzhou, China – For the first time, China, through the Center for International Cooperation Services (CICOS), will host the 2024 High-Level Training and Experience Sharing on Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS). The event, co-organized with FAO’s GIAHS Programme under the FAO-China South-South Cooperation Programme (SSC), will take place from 4  to 10 November 2024, in Huzhou and Xianju, Zhejiang Province.

Bogotá, October 31, 2024 – With the goal of improving the competitiveness of Colombian family cotton farming, benefiting 1,200 farming families, the governments of Brazil and Colombia and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) signed the second phase of the +Cotton Colombia project.
