Rotterdam Convention
The Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade is a multilateral environmental agreement, whose Secretariat is jointly provided by FAO and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
The Convention through the Prior Informed Consent, or PIC procedure, prevents unwanted trade of banned or severely restricted chemicals and pesticides, and facilitates the exchange of information regarding their management and use.
