Implementation of the Global Plan of Action in GHANA

WHAT IS THE NATIONAL MECHANISM ?

It is an information network for monitoring activities carried out to implement the Global Plan of Action (GPA) on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (PGRFA) in Ghana.

The Mechanism has been officially established in 2004 and it now counts with the participation of nine key national stakeholders involved with the conservation and sustainable use of plant genetic resources in Ghana. Based on the information collected by using a list of indicators recommended by the FAO Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture, a ED) was prepared in 2008. This report has contributed to the development of the second report on the State of the World's PGRFA..

The Mechanism database serves as a working instrument for the National PGR Committee and for national institutions for drafting strategies and plans.
