The Third Report on the State of the World’s Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (Third Report), published by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), presents the results of a global assessment of progress on the conservation and sustainable use of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture (PGRFA) from 2011 to 2022.

The Third Report is based on data from 128 countries and 17 regional and international centres. The Africa Regional Launch of the Third Report, hosted by FAO in collaboration with the Centre for International Forestry Research and World Agroforestry (CIFOR-ICRAF), will be a means to present the key findings of the Third Report to the PGRFA stakeholders of the region, including policymakers, researchers, and development partners. These findings and their policy implications will be discussed, and priorities for action across Africa defined. The event will therefore also be a means to enhance regional collaboration and knowledge exchange among these stakeholders on various themes that are critical to the efforts to manage PGRFA effectively in the region.
